Teachers' Unit Executive Summer Hours

Please be aware that the Teachers' Unit Executive Officers do not have regular summer hours. The best way to reach us, if necessary, is via email. The email addresses for the three time-release officers are available on the left column of the district21.ca website.

If there is a serious emergency that threatens your employment, please contact the provincial office at 1-800-267-7867 and ask to speak to the Duty Officer.

Summer Travel Benefits Information

Please record the following information and keep it with you if you are travelling out of Ontario during the summer:

Your HWDSB Employee ID - paystub
Your Division Number - 102
Your Policy Number - 136993
Great West Life Phone - 1-800-957-9777 (Canada & US), 1-204-946-1190 (anywhere else)

You should also get in touch with Paul Baldwin, the HWDSB benefits officer for any major incidents that will go through the benefits plan. He can often act as an advocate with Great West Life to get
problems cleared up. His number is 905-527-5092 X2666. Wherever you are travelling this summer, be safe and have fun!

USE OF PERSONAL LEAVE DAYS--SEPTEMBER STARTUP

RE: PERSONAL LEAVE DAYS – SEPTEMBER 2 AND 3, 2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR

The HWDSB has agreed that Teachers are able to use their personal leave days for September 2nd and 3rd, 2009. However, the following important information applies:

* A written request, either letter or email, must be received by John Horgan – Manager of Employee Relations [6th floor – Human Resources – Education Centre] on or before June 24, 2009 by 4pm. Any request[s] received after this deadline will be reviewed but may not be approved. Faxes and telephone requests will not be accepted. If no email confirmation is received then HR has not received the request by the deadline and the days are not granted. The teacher will receive an email confirmation from HR by June 26, 2009.

* A written request must include the teachers name, school[current and September location if different], position and home phone number in the event contact is required.

* All approved leaves for these two dates will be entered into the system by Human Resources and coded as “no substitute required”.
